Dance Class Information
Welcome to North Alabama Dance Theatre! We are so excited to be able to offer arts classes for the youth in our area. In this letter you will find all of the information you will need about the classes for the coming year. As always if you have any questions please feel free to ask at any time.

Please make note of contact information in case of emergency.
We always like to be up front with everyone on all expenses. Of course you will be responsible for your tuition, which is due on the first class of every month if not paid in full at time of registration. Tuition and late fees are discussed further in the Tuition and Payment section below. Each student will need proper attire and shoes.
We will have a Student Showcases at the end of each 12-week session for family and friends to see what your child has learned. Costumes will be very minimal
Attendance:
Attending class regularly, and on time is extremely important if you are to keep up with the technical progress of your fellow students. If you do need to miss, please contact the studio so we can account for all students each lesson. Email or text is the best way to let me know of an absence. There will be no make-up classes provided.
Please make note of your class time as all students should be dropped off and picked up within 10 minutes of class start and finish time unless arrangements have been made with the instructor.
Tuition and Payment
Monthly payments are due on the first class of every month.
All checks should be made out to North Alabama Dance Theatre
Please write the student’s name in the memo section on your check. A 10.00 late charge will be added for all late payments made after the 10th of each month. There will be a 25.00 fee for all returned checks.
You may drop your tuition off or pay at the class anytime. Late fees will be enforced. If tuition falls delinquent for 30 days, the student will not be allowed to attend classes until the amount due is brought up to date including late fees.
We have a no-refund policy on tuition.
Please be aware that once you have registered for classes your student has a spot in class that cannot be refilled at a later time.
If a student decides to drop out, we require a 30 day notice. You will be billed for tuition until notice is given. (Ex. If you have paid your September tuition and your child doesn't return to class in October but you did not give a notice, you will be responsible for October's tuition)
Dress:
Proper attire should be worn at all times to help instructors ensure proper head and body alignment during class.
Girls: 1. Hair should be pulled or pinned back off the face.
2. Ballet - Students may wear your choice of leotard, shorts/skirt, tights and ballet shoes
Jazz – Students may wear your choice of leotard, shorts/jazz pants and jazz shoes
Contemporary – Student may wear your choice of leotard, shorts/jazz pants, no shoes
Tap – Students may wear your choice of leotard/snug fitting t-shirt, shorts/jazz pants and tap shoes.
4. No jewelry, oversized T-shirts, baggy clothing, or clothing of an offensive nature will be allowed.
5. Proper shoes should be worn for each class: students may wear their choice of ballet – jazz - tap shoes.
Boys: 1. Athletic pants or shorts with a snug fitting T-shirt should be worn for all dance classes
2. No jewelry or baggy clothing allowed
3. Proper shoes should be worn for each class: students may wear their choice of ballet – jazz - tap shoes.
***Parents please buy the proper size for your child when buying dance shoes. DO NOT allow for growing room. If shoes are too big, students cannot perform properly. They will not be able to utilize free range of motion in their feet. Shoes that are too big or too small can cause serious damage to children’s feet that are still growing and forming, damage that a lot of times will not appear until much later in life. It is imperative that we protect them from misalignments and injury. Our instructors can help you choose the right style and size shoe for your child’s feet.
All students are expected to follow the dress code and practice customary grooming, and laundering of clothing and footwear.
Shoes and clothing can be bought at many places these days. I suggest a local dance shop or Academy Sports. I also use www.discountdance.com for the majority of my shoes and clothing.
Any student dressed improperly for class will be asked to change or remove certain items such as warm-ups and jewelry. If they cannot comply, the student may observe, but not participate in class.
Class Rules:
If a student fails to comply with the rules, the instructor will first ask the student to observe rather than participate in the class. If the problems persist the student will be dismissed. Should any student have a habitual problem with one or more of the following rules, a meeting with the student and parent may be necessary to discuss further action to correct the problem.
We look forward to an exciting first year of dance classes. If you have any questions when reading over this letter please feel free to ask at any time.
Thank you so much,
